Sigth Word Sam

The Hounds practiced their sight words by writing them on paper (left over from the copy room :) ) and reading them to a teacher. Then they crumbled the paper and made Sight Word Sam come to life!! What a fun way to practice those dreaded sight words.

Poor Sam!  He needs our help.

Diamond table hard at work.

Andrew, Draike, and Gracie had a serious competition going!!

Alex and Abi Grace filling him up.

Almost there!!

Our friend, Sight Word Sam.

Way Cool Science

Dry ice makes for some very cool science demonstrations.

Dry ice + glow stick = EERIE
Vapor caught in dish soap makes lots of bubbles.

A thin layer of dish soap over the rim of the container......

traps the vapor and makes one very large bubble.......

that bursts!!!!  Check out the Spunky Monkeys' faces!!

Not quite what we wanted, but still very cool!

Halloween Activities

We started the day off by reading the book Halloween Pie and making a Halloween Pie from scratch.  I mean REALLY from scratch; cut the pumpkin open and everything!!

Gutsy the Fox visited with an important say no to drugs message.

Costumes! Costumes! Costumes!

Halloween day was a blast!!  Below are pics of the Hounds in their costumes.

Pumpkin Carving

A few days before Halloween we carved a pumpkin.  The kids had a great time cleaning out the goo.  We estimated how many seeds were in the pumpkin.  Then counted them in groups of ten.  Our pumpkin had 500 seeds!!
