Reading Workshop

In Reading Workshop we've been learning how to be Book Lovers and not Book Bullies.  Book lovers choose their book by flipping gently through the book basket, hold the book correctly, turn the pages carefully, and return the book to it's proper place.



Writing Workshop

We began the year in Writing Workshop working on how to draw people. We learned to draw a body first, then a head and to make the arms and legs come out of the body.  We used Mat Man as a guide to help us remember all the parts and where they go.

First we built Mat Man.

 

 

 

 

The next day we drew Mat Man on dry erase boards.

Pete the Cat

We hope your child's first day of Kindergarten was wonderful!!!!! It sure went very smoothly at the school house. The only problem we had was with the camera.  We lost most of the pics from the first day. :( :( However, pictures of our hunt for Pete the Cat were saved (this was the best part anyway).


Pete the Cat and DEAN, our class mascot, helped us learn our four classroom rules:

                        Do your best!
                        Attitude is everything!
                        Encourage others!
                        Never give up!

We learned that if something we don't like happens, we don't cry. We just keep on walking along and singing our song because.......It's All Good In The Hood!!

Well, Friday afternoon while we were out of the room, Pete the Cat disappeared!! He left notes with clues all over the school.  Below are pictures of us tracking him down. 

 



We finally caught up with him back in our classroom and he brought us COOKIES that looked like his shoes!
