E-I-E-I-Ohhh What Fun We Had

On Thursday, we read the story The Little Red Hen and got to see what real wheat looks like.  We also watched a video on commercial bread making, so we were experts when it was time to make our bread Friday morning. Each table worked together with an adult to make a loaf of whole wheat bread.

Then it was time to head outside to see lots of animals, go on a hayride, and learn about milking a cow.

Back inside we made butter to go with our yummy, still warm bread. This took longer than we wanted and we really had to use our muscles.

Finally the butter was finished, and it was time to try what we had made.  VERY GOOD!!! We thought it tasted like Longhorn's bread!!

After lunch, we made our class book page for the week.  Each week, we have a sentence that helps us learn sight words.  Everyone makes a page with their sentence on it and Mrs. Lisa makes it into a book for us.

Our community rotations for the week were all farm related. In Kindergarten classrooms, we tested different packing materials for eggs. In first grade classes, we made farm scenes with play dough. In 2nd grade classes, we made a snack called Pretty Pink Pigs.  I was only able to get a few pictures during this time. It's difficult to get pics of the Hounds when they're spread out over 6 different classes and we're so busy in our room.
